on Como Lake
``Villa Rosalinda`` is an elegant villa located in a quiet area in the historic center of the town of Dongo. It is at a stone's throw from its small port, on the western shore of the upper Lake Como.The dwelling dates back to the beginning of the 1800s, but during the renovation that took place at the beginning of 2019, some wall elements, presumably dating back to the early '600, were identified. The villa has an irregular layout on three floors and is surrounded by a small park.
The renovation
The renovation's purpose was to create an accommodation preserving, respecting and enhancing as much as possible the ancient wonderful architectural elements, but, on the other hand, also providing a space complete with every comfort.The frescoes on the ceilings, the original ancient Cotto Lombardo floor tiles, the inlaid parquet floors, the antique furniture, have all been preserved, however modern and welcoming bathrooms have been also created.
THE GARDEN
The garden, located at the entrance of the villa and completely surrounded by ancient walls, is home to a wide variety of plants and flowers: a centuries-old magnolia and japanese medlar tree, several palms, lemons and mandarins, some varieties of roses, hydrangeas, the wisteria that perfumes the entry path, the calicantus, the azaleas and oleanders, the San Bartolomew's trees and the thousand of flowers scattered here and there ..... in short, a discovery at every step and an oasis of peace and tranquility available to the guests, in the heart of the village, where you can enjoy your breakfast and relax with a nice book.
